What are normal eating behavior for a two year old?

I don't like that

That is the typical thing a two year old will say about anything you try to give them other then ice cream or candy.

My doctor told me that it's not how much they eat, but that they eat at least one bite for what age they are. So if you can get two bites into your two year old at a meal, that's all they need.

To be sure they get enough nutrients, you need to give them vitamins. There are gummy vitamins out there now. My granddaughter has no problem reminding her mom to give her a vitamin every day.

The big thing is not to make meal time a battle time for you and your two year old or even older child. Just let them know they need to take a couple of bites or there will be no candy or desert before bed. Let them make the choice. The first day they may say okay, but the next day you may see them actually eating those two bites.

I also heard a doctor today say that they should graze because their tummys are so small they can't get much in at one time.

That is so true. How can we expect a child to sit down to a meal like we do and fill up. Even if they really like it, they have their limits. I contribute the over weight society with the fact that parents demand their child to clean off their plate at dinner time. This teaches them to over eat from early years on. Everyone puts more on their plate then they need. Learning to stop when full would be a great memory recharge for all of us.
